Thinking activity on Hamlet
1) The movie is quite faithful to the play, in some scene Director do creative changes. Branagh utilize the entire script virtually word for word. But he do some changing in setting, characters activity, symbol like curtain –mirror. And many other things this text is differentiate as well as faithful also.
2) yes, My Perception is changed about character of Ophelia. It is so because when I was going through the play I thought it is a casual thing but when I saw the scene of the play in the movie, I got one emotionally moved looking at her sorrowful situation.
3) I found aesthetic delight throughout the movie in Hamlet’s acting. It is so because his expression is more vibrant than his dialogues.
4) Yes, I do feel catharsis, when Hamlet misbehaves with Ophelia and says her to go to nunnery though she is love with him. Secondly, while Hamlet is leaves her and she madly behave and loose her conscience. I also feel catharsis with Hamlets also in his fight between his internal struggle throughout the movie.
5)yes, The movie screening is help me a lot to better understanding of play its character their expression and reaction through the visualization. While reading the play we just imagine the things for example; “Hamlets melancholy” we just think and imagine but the something in movie we can understand and can feel at better way.
6)There were some gladden movement in the movie which will always with me in life it is like..while Hamlet speak “To be or not to be” in looking into the mirror. Its cherish me because its shows the ‘internal struggle of Hamlet’, but I thought that it is a struggle in which we are also in the same situation sometime. I found one think that “our inner conscience is makes us coward and To much thinking is also harmful.
7)If I would have been the director of the movie I would have show a love story of Hamlet and Ophelia, and added another story like one more play within the play, And added some comic seen with the other minor character and make Gertrude as a strong queen.
8)The broken statue at the end signifies that something is come and it will come you cannot stop everything like death. The evil push the good. The fall of a man is happened it is not that either it is king or a common man.
9) while studying the play through movie I found various approach like..Philosophical approach, psychological approach, feministic approach, I think the pshaychological approach is more applicable because of through out the movie hamlet has suffered from too much thinking and internal struggle with him self.
10) As per my observation in hamlet the Feministic approach is more applicable because the character of Ophelia and Gertrude they are rudely treated by hamlet and yet they don’t react against its symbolize that that women are like puppet of male dominant society.
